This group was defined and established by the livestock law of 1966.

For the Aubrac breed, the UPRA Aubrac was founded in 1996. It wasn't until that year that the sufficient number of head existed for this type of structure to exist. It is made up of various organizations that, at that time, were willing to believe in the breed and make an investment to guarantee the selection and to advance the Aubrac breed.

In this way, the creation of the UPRA Aubrac allowed the Aubrac cattle raisers to fulfil legal requirements, and, above all, create a centre (with recognized participants and a defined budget) dedicated to the advancement and selection of the breed.
